Minister Kurum's response to Özgür Özel on "social housing": They talk, the AK Party does

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared images of citizens who became homeowners through the social housing project on his social media account. Minister Kurum made a reference to CHP leader Özgür Özel's words targeting social housing projects, saying, "It's been like this for 23 years... They talk, the AKP does."

Perihan Kepez, the beneficiary who moved into her new house, emphasized that she became a homeowner as if she were paying rent through the social housing campaign: Let me say for myself, I would not have had the chance to even get the letter 'e' of the house. "I FELT LIKE I WAS REBORN AT 60"

Retired beneficiary Rasim Çoklü said that he moved into his new house 10 months ago and became a homeowner for the first time at the age of 60 thanks to the affordable installment opportunity:

"The world became mine. I am 60 years old, I have never experienced such happiness. Because I have never owned a house. I lived in a rented house for years. I felt like I was reborn, like I came back to the world. Right now, I have become a homeowner by paying 7-8 thousand TL in installments, like I am paying dues."

Accountant Yakup Özcan also explained that he became a homeowner by benefiting from this project offered by TOKİ: We moved in August 2023. Now our payments continue. The rents here are 18-20 thousand TL. We pay 2 thousand 500 TL. In other words, a father would not give this to his son. There is a fatherly characteristic here, the warm hand of the state. This must be what is called social policies... What everyone will focus on for low-income people; first a roof over their head, secondly the payment terms. I will pay 600 thousand TL in installments in 20 years. This is a great thing.

"TOKİ'S HOUSES REMAINED STANDING DURING THE EARTHQUAKE"

Özcan said, "We saw the quality of the buildings built by TOKİ during the earthquakes. All of them remained standing. Moreover, the materials used are also of high quality. This is an ideal place for low-income people."

7,825 SOCIAL HOUSES WERE DELIVERED IN YENİPEÇENEK

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change is providing solutions to the rental/housing problem by implementing steps such as social housing for low-income people through TOKİ, new projects for middle-income people through Emlak Konut, and land establishment in cooperation with the General Directorate of National Real Estate. The Ministry has built 1 million 481 thousand social housing units to date under the coordination of TOKİ. The construction of 312 thousand social housing units in 81 provinces continues. The works, which slowed down for a while due to the pandemic and the disaster of the century, accelerated again as of the beginning of this year.

The majority of the project that will provide home ownership to low-income citizens in Saraycık/Yenipeçenek, a district of Sincan in Ankara, has been completed. Construction has been completed in 11 of the 18 stages, and deliveries are ongoing. With the completion of 5 more stages this year, a total of 12,909 houses, 143 business centers, 2 schools, 6 mosques, and 3 prayer rooms will have been built in the region. To date, 7,825 social housing units have been delivered.
